An old-fashioned red mailbox can be found in front of this house. It has been a landmark in
Katsuyama for almost 90 years. The mailbox was briefly changed to a modern design, but soon
changed back to a round, old-fashioned one to better match the classic style of the buildings around it. The family's noren features the symbol of a postman which was familiar to their grandmother, since it was used for many years on postal zip code books. The zip code on the noren was not included at first, but their grandmother asked to have it.
