Sankyo Shoken was established in 1955. They handle plumbing, gas and building renovation. The
head of the company was the one who came up with the idea of hanging noren over the doors in town.
He works very hard to raise the town's spirit and to encourage more townspeople to hang noren over their doors as the chairman of the Katsuyama Townscape Support Association. Their noren is patterned after a traditional Japanese temari handball. Because this game is also played during the Hina Doll Festival, their noren is suitable for this special occasion as well as everyday life. Since Katsuyama has become filled with beautiful noren, it seems as though there are many more people coming to visit.
