Tomioka Printing

This printing company has been in business for 120 years. When they first began, workers had to set type by hand. The business of printing has undergone many changes since then. This noren was chosen by Mrs. Tomioka while on it was display at the Hinoki Kusaki Dying and Weaving Gallery. It waves over ascending stairs. Every year, migrating swallows build their nests on this building. The design resembles a giant eyeball and they hoped it would frighten the birds away, but they have had no luck so far.
