Kimura Residence
This family ran a restaurant and hotel business during the days when the Asahi River was busy with flatboats, from the Edo Period to 1941. The riverside hotel featured a grand hall named the "100
Tatami (straw mat) Room." The front gate of the hotel, used by the feudal lord of Katsuyama, still exists. The design of the noren comes from a set of lacquerware boxes used to serve food in the restaurant. Many people enjoyed food here while taking in the beautiful scenery of Katsuyama. |
