Mizushima Legal Office
The design was proposed by Mrs. Mizushima. It carries their wish to help bring about peaceful judgements and fair decisions. This house was a kimono and fabric shop until recently.
When the great writer Junichiro Tanizaki evacuated to Katsuyama in 1945, he had a good relationship with the people of Mizushima Kimono and Fabric Shop. During the Edo Period, Katsuyama was visited by many flatboats and was a busy spot along the Izumo Highway. Commerce prospered because of the high traffic, and there were five kimono and fabric shops here in those days.
