Emoto Residence
This family's ancestors operated a business that produced, sold and dyed fabric with indigo. The locally made indigo products were sold as far away as Kyoto. A vat used for dyeing can still be found in the front of the house. Their indigo-blue noren features the Imaichi-ya trademark, which the family used from the Edo period to 1941. It's said that the Emoto family came to Katsuyama with the Miura family, who became the feudal lords of Katsuyama. |
