Because this family's front entrance faces south, their noren is subject to very strong sunlight so the colors tend to fade quickly. They wanted to enjoy the bright colors for as long as possible, so they chose a bead curtain design. The colors flow from dark blue to gray. Each strand of the curtain is made from dyed 4-cm strips of cloth, braided into a string of knots.
