Kiyotomo Residence
This family operated a soy sauce brewery in the old days. When you enter through the front gate, which is more than 200 years old, you can still see one of the rails that was used to transport soy sauce from the brewery to the flatboat loading docks. At that time, they sold soy sauce under the brand names Maru-ni Shoyu and Hakubotan. Their noren's design comes from Hakubotan towels which were given to loyal customers. The brown color expresses thick, rich soy sauce, and a white peony (haku-botan) blooms in the center. This is their third noren with the same design. |
