The Dan family were sword craftsmen and soy sauce makers during the time when the Miura clan were the feudal lords of the castle. In those days, Katsuyama was a small castle town and still has many houses which have retained the name they used back then, when they were shops. For example, many people are still familiar with the shop name, Tamura-ya. Mrs. Dan has always preferred noren with simple and modern designs. This noren presents an image of outer space with sparkling stars around the Earth. The small circles seem to be looking after the big one.
