Komatsu Residence
This house used to be a drugstore named Fukuchi-ya in the old days. The Komatsu family has two
noren with their family crest, the Maru-ni-tsuta (Ivy in a Circle), on them. In 1985, Katsuyama was
chosen as the first historical preservation area in Okayama Prefecture. The maintenance of
historical houses along the old road improved greatly. As a result, citizen-based town planning and
maintenance focused on ways to enhance and make life more enjoyable for those living here. The
gently swaying noren are a part of every day life, and have become a point of pride for those living
in Katsuyama. |
