This design features Mt. Taikoyama and Mt. Shiroyama under a red moon. The moon is the same color as the happi coats worn by the people in the Kamiwaka area during the town's annual danjiri fighting festival. When Katsuyama was designated as Okayama Prefecture's first historic preservation area in 1985, maintenance on the row of historic houses began in earnest. Whenever the area becomes dark, stone garden lanterns are lit. The area was chosen as one of the 100 Best Promenades (walks with scenic or natural beauty) in 2002.
